Bloomsbury Published Author to Give Writing Tips at Hive Event

Debut novelist David Savill will be sharing tips and advice on how to get your stories published at The Hive’s second ‘Authors Spotlight’ talk of the year.

The Bloomsbury published author of They Are Trying to Break Your Heart will discuss how personal stories can become the foundation of a novel. His book is one of ten long listed for the 2017 Desmond Elliot Prize, the UK’s biggest prize for a debut novel. It received great reviews in The LA Times, Times Literary Supplement and People Magazine.

David was living as a teacher in Tuzla in the last year of the Bosnian war where he helped to organise a summer university for the refugees of Srebrenica. Over the past 15 years, David has returned to Bosnia several times. His experiences in Bosnia and as a current affairs journalist have inspired his novels.

David will be delivering his talk on Saturday 29 April at 6pm on the success of his books, his journey to finding a publisher and sharing his expert tips.

Janine Downes, The Hive library manager, said: “David Savill is a brilliant author of a page turning novel and we are delighted that he is coming to The Hive to talk about his experiences.

“This event is ideal for anyone who enjoys writing as well as those who are considering taking the next steps to having their work published or those who simply want to hear an author talk about his stunning work.”
